Description

Lining up this rocket already for a next launch at the Bunnell Blast in November 2017. Bought the motor yesterday from Bernie for $40.. No more discounts because he will be going out of business soon as he said.

Update 10/17/2017 - I'm thinking for leaving the motor charge in, deployment will be around 13 sec and motor charge is at 17 sec. I will also keep the stratologger at Apo +2 sec. Take off is a bit faster like 84 ft/sec, Much more then the previous flight that was around 75 ft/sec.

Update 10/20/2017 - Decided to adjust the stratologger at Apo - 0 sec, motor charge goes off 4 sec later...

Update 11/02/2017 - Made the charges tonight, 0.8 grams drogue and 0.8 grams Main, but both are close to 1 gram actually.. Also folded the two parachutes already and made the Z ties with rubber-bands. Might undo them but just for now to get ready in case.

Update 11/06/2017 - Finalized the front bay, installed dog-barf and 3 sheerpins in the nose cone section. The only thing to do is the bottom and the av bay and phone. Charges are all on but not connected yet.

Update 11/07/2017 - Will set the stratologger at normal APO deployment, no need to add seconds, motor charge goes of 4 sec. later then apogee... All done and set to Apo 0..

Update 11/12/2017 - LAUNCH-DAY- ZIPPER !!!!! - Launch went well, had a small problem getting the screw driver into the switch to activate, took it down from the pad and drilled a bigger hole. Worked fine. Launch went well with a 8 degree angle.. To much. For some reason the drogue did not came out !! Both charges fired, motor ejection and stratologger, but no still stayed together ! Next time I do not use sheerpins for this rocket !!! Was really not to tight at all, worked before great !!! Will look at the data later.

Zipper was caused by ballistic entry and main charged fired and deployed the main chute at high velocity ! Rocket will be fixed and fly again with 38 mm motors, probably 3 grains or 2 grains to keep it safe and close by. Winds on the field were still high at times. Recovery was far because no drogue slowed down the decent process!

Update 11/12/2017 - Downloading the graphs, very remarkable graphs in there !! haha. It also seems that all the gasses from the drogue charges went into the AvBay raising the temperature in there. But all worked fine, all charges went off, so the only thing is that the av bay did not separate from some reason, to much winds and sheerpin combination ? Also the rocket came down only under main and that causes the air-frameto zip because of the highspeed deployment.... Still the decent was like 36 f/s... And no damage besides the zipper !!

$40? I thought you gave him $90?

So no idea why the drogue never popped?

Wish I could figure out why my NC failed on Screech!
