Description

This is my first real LOC rocket - that can accommodate motors from 29 mm to 38 mm - have adapter. My LEVEL 1 Rocket, flies great and very stable. Fins are trough the wall construction. Also did an fiberglass wrap around the fins to give those more strength. Flies to Mach1 with a 38 mm motor, but has only single deploy. Has also a payload bay. Nice rocket and nose cone.

The High Tech is getting a make over, wanna take it to 1.5 mach eventually, but that might be pushing it way to far, Will launch it on a motor first with velocity like just under a mach or so, and see what the damage is, Also it will be drogue less, only main chute and a very small electronics bay with battery and stratologger together separated by a wooden ply. Need some small part that I will buy on the field and see how it dry fits. Very excited about this project.... the rocket holds a 38 mm motor actually not so keen having a 38 mm motor, have seen lots of issues with those motors ... Hoping for the best and hopefully no fin flutter. Fins have a double wrap of fiberglass and an extra glue beat on the fillets, But at a t/o speed of 130 ft/sec anything can happen. Please stand by folks..

Started cutting away the bottom of the upper bay, just enough to attach an extension that will hold the 6" Av bay. long and wide enough for Iphone. So far the weight is at 998 grams. (October 21, 2015).

Just realized, to fly this rocket over Mach 1, I need to get more rocket poxy on the motor mount top and bottom ! (October 23, 2015).

Update 12/17/2015 - Rocket weight 1300 grams in total with Iphone. Window is installed but might make it bigger.

Update 06/29/2016 - Rocket had a ballistic re entry, so it was actually completely destroyed, But after close examination, lots of parts could be re used, The fin can was still intact till over the fins so a coupler could be used, only was fin came off clean not broken. Just have to buy a main frame and a nose cone and Av bay. So I started to cut the fin can in a clean cut for the coupler. Could get the old 38 mm motor mouth out and center rings, Those could be re used after a sanding with the dremmel. I still had a 38 mm blue tube and that worked well. So today I glued in place the chock cord on the motor mouth / the motor retainer on the Blue tube / the loose fin and the motor mouth inside the fin can, all was done using a lot of rocket poxy and I could feel the weight already ! But it seems solid. So the next step is look for a sleeve/coupler and a nose cone. Later I will get the Av Bay and parts. So that rocket will fly again soon. TO BE CONTINUED IN HITECH II REBUILD!!!

Charges: Drogue 0.5 grams (full charge well) - Main 0.5 grams (full charge well).
