Description

Wanna have this rocket launched on my CTI I100 Red Lightning motor that I have a year ago, I extended the original rocket with 6" Upper bay to hold a Main chute. So it's a bit modified. Motor is Not so powerful for my other heavier rockets, so this rocket will take it to around 3000 feet I hope. Will be using and testing my chute release for this one, Will have the smaller streamer (85 feet) in it with Iphone and Tagg. Nothing special, just a lower fun flight, might launch a 4" rocket also that day.. If the weather and visibility are great.

Update 06/19/2020 - Starting to get things ready for this launch. It's still far away, but want to make sure I'm getting it all done on time. Work or some other stuff might get in the way as always.

Charging: Tagg / Chute release / GoPro camera's (2) / Canon camera's / Small Video Camera (Check Batteries) / Nikon camera / Stratologgers (Check Batteries) / IPhone

Install extra chute with Chute release for test !

Update 06/20/2020 - There will be an extra chute in the rocket to test the chute release, or maybe I just wrap it around the main chute. Also there will be GoPro camera inside the booster to record the events.

Update 06/22/2020 - Prepped the chute already in the front bay, 60" chute. Z-ties (2) in the shock cord, dog barf at the bottom, and shear pins (3) in the nose cone section.

Update 06/28/2020 - Made all the charges for Drogue (streamer) 1.8 Gram / 2.0 grams - Main 1.8 Gram / 2.0 gram. Also installed the motor and boat tail. Tested out the stratologgers, all good for another flight.

Update 07/09/2020 - Did some more prepping on rocket booster, installed the drogue charge, added dog-barf, installed the streamer (85 feet) dog-barf on top, streamer is also packed and wrapped in a chute protector. Made one z-tie. New idea is to wrap the chock cord around the streamer and make it very tight, so it slides our better. All charges loaded. Will tape camera and TAGG/ WHISTLE on chock cord. Should work fine.

Update 07/10/2020 - Car all loaded up, there seems to be some rain in the afternoon at the launch day, so trying to launch early. Had to do a last fix, the foot/fiberglass holder that holds the Iphone in place broke off, so I re-glued it on and waiting to dry now.

Update 07/11/2020 - LAUNCH DAY - not so much clouds and rain in the forecast as they predicted ! Nice but warm day, low winds. Lots of fluids ! Start prepping my rocket to go for launch on the first rack line. Checked the launch rail first #6 to make sure it was a good one and right angle. Started prepping my rocket fast, all was already pre prepped at home. no issues, camera turned on (?) and all connected. Yes second in line. Rocket went up smooth, arched over and there was a long wait before the streamer came out, I guess I packed the chock cord to many times and to tight around the streamer ! Next time just a few wraps ! Landed nice nearby, main deployed great also.. Nice recovery. Also I noticed that the main charge for the drogue was out and seemed not connected, I realized that I was in a hurry again and did not connect that charge ! All good, nice pictures and data and video from Iphone..

While recovering I noticed that there was a small zipper on the forward side of the upper bay(main), small fix will do. I do not have the predicted altitude but this rocket has been extended with a 6" bay and had a streamer inside, so that is much heavier than the original Zodiac.
