Description

Just making this rocket ready to fly with the new experimental nose cone, Have to measure CG and CP just to make sure. It will have the RTX and the radio in the nose cone and the phone in the AvBay. Hoping for cooler weather so the Nexus 4 does not shut down premature... This is a continue launch with the original Hell Cat I.

Update 08/26/2018 - Continue prepping this rocket for a flight in Bunnell, FL. Rocket is nose cone heavy with the RTX and the radio, but will fly safe with a 4 grin fast(er) motor. Also stratologgers tested out and checked. All Z-ties made, parachutes selected, Also charges made.....Hopefully we can launch in September.

Update 09/06/2018 - Maybe NO GO launch this weekend, Hurricane GORDON made the field pretty wet, Waiting on a word from the top if the field will be dry bu then. Also Bernie will swing by the field today to check it out and will let us know.

Update 09/07/2018 - Nop, no word, no updates, nothing, as Tim said, No news is bad news. So waiting for a next launch day.

Update 09/13/2018 - Planning to go to SRA in Palm Bay, since there is no 'make up' launch schedules so far. Asking Bernie for a non Sparky motor since there might be a burn ban. Some one will pick up a motor at Bernies, Bernie will not be at the SRA launch.

Update 09/14/2018 - Ok SRA so far, somebody got me a J449 BS motor from Bernie and will be at the launch. Long drive 2.38 hrs and will drop off Florence at the Melbourne Mall. Bernie will not be there (?), so I will have to pay him later when I see him in Nefar. All good. Charging all batteries, RTX (2), Phones (2), Camera's,...

All chutes packed, dog barf applied, charges connected. Tested the radio's / blue tooth / IR nexus phone, all working great.

Update 09/15/2018 - LAUNCH DAY - Well eh, eh, early morning drive, long drive, 2.40 hrs... dropped Florence of at the Melbourne Square Mall, than to field another 20 minutes drive, Easy to find.. Some people were already there,Also Bernie was that day on the field, somebody picked up my motor from Bernie the day before but Bernie decided to come to the field 2 hours after the guy picked up my motor, oh well, great to see him anyways...Started taking pictures and than prepping my rocket. All went slow, hot day, all was together than I realized that the RTX was not working properly, took it out and in the nose cone several times but no fix, error 9, according Tim a battery issue - will work on that when home. Dam, did not wanna launch but Tim gave me his RTX so yes, continue prepping again, it seems it took hours, Than the phone in the Av Bay, dam, radio's are working great and blue tooth also but dam the phone stopped when it was in the Bay, out again, phone seems to be off (??) Why what now why now, restarted the phone, ok IR working back into the bay, got reading, than bam, stopped working again, dam dam, out again restarting IR, working again, in the bay again, radio working Phone working, continue prepping, phone stopped talking !! dam dam dam, out of the bay again, but now it shows that it was updating 110 apps !!!!!!!!!!!!! What the fuck !!!! Put the phone on the charger and let it update, phone running hot, put into cooler box, temperature went down a bit... ok very mad now, and let the phone update and watching the launches a bit... After 30 minutes or so came back, still updating a few more apps.... waiting,.... after the update it seems that the phone rebooted a few times and it seems it took longer to reboot !!! waiting a few reboots... Some things were changed after the update, like the start up screen and wall paper !!! Shit what the hell.... ok after after after all that phone crap I started to get the phone finally in the bay, didn't care if the window was lined up or not ! Phone in and secured and talking to the radio via blue tooth, so that was working, for now... RTX was not working because of the Carbon fiber, but once out of the booster after Apo it should pick up a signal again.. so of to the Launch pad. Still talking fine ! Did not installed shear pins, no time to fiddle with those dam little shitty screws... Asking to launch first because the phone was running hot again like 132 F..... LAUNCH ! great launch on that BS motor, really great straight up launch, love it !! So that was fine so far.... I heard the phone still talking like 3000 feet, than nothing any more ! Probably to hot, overheated !!! Separation, hear somebody yelling, coming in hot ??? what the Hell ? what now, indeed the booster was on the drogue, so that was fine, but the nose cone and av Bay were separated from the booster ???? So they came in hot...kind of, but the main came out on time and seems to land safe, did not see that actually, was taking pictures from the booster on the drogue, and it seems that Tim was making pictures of the nose cone and av bay at the same time... RTX did not work no signal.... Could locate the booster next to the road, now somebody saw the direction of the nosecone/av bay so we started walking in the field and yes next to the cul-du-sack area !! Was already planning to give up all my rocketry shit just by losing all the electronics but hey we found it again...jeez what a ride that day.... trying to enjoy the rest of the day now with the other launches... Some great rockets from Steve (Mars lander) and Gary(two stage) and Tim (4 launches)..... Lost almost my energy with all the crap that was happening, will investigate the RTX and see what the problem is or order a new one... Have also to work a bit on the phone and see how it behaves when loading in the Av bay... will repeat that a number of times. Have to find a solution for not running hot again. Tim was a great help that day for not giving up the search.. Great pictures taken but no video from the phone. I guess with all the issues I had I probably forgot to attach the Quick link of the booster/av bay, indeed I took them out so many times that I did not payed attention anymore.. Also this flight was actually a test to prove the Radio's / Bluetooth/phone reporting data, and that what is did perfect. Just emailed Jim from Missile Works to see if the RTX can be fixed or if i a new one.

Update 09/17/2018 - Got my RTX working, just a default reset with the 'program' button (instructions). Also Tim downloaded the map from RTX. Asking how he did it so I can do that also later for other flights!
