A - ELECTRONIX - RTX/GPS

Description

Just the cover build for the RTX tracker.... and some modifications after the first flight.

Update 04/29/2017 - Making a new cover for my RTX that was lost on the last flight, Did not secure the end that well and it came off due the harsh way down. Rtx still needs to come in (rocket part that is) but I already cut the right size to fit it in the Exodus.... it's a piece of sprinkler pipe... It will have no switch just wires twisted together.

Update 05/19/2017 - Tested out the new combo and all is working well even the blue tooth on the phone compass and map !!

Update 01/30/2018 - Reprogrammed the RTX coordinates, Had some issues but now the map understands better in Decimal degrees ! Also a bit louder beeping.. All good and spot on home location !

Update 02/09/2018 - Changed the RTX coordinates so easier reading for locating the rocket in Google Maps. Also made device so I can record all the data that the RTX hand unit shows while launching, phone is on top and recording at the same time. Hope the Antenna wire outside the Carbon Fiber body will get some data during the flight, Nose cone did not have enough space to put the RTX in there, my bad during construction of rocket.

Update 09/17/2018 -

Update 11/22/2018 - Thanksgiving day today, and working on a smaller cover holder for the RTX rocket unit. Since I have that 'new' nose cone with compartments I just want it to fir in with the radio antenna next to it.Can only use the lower channels since the high Frequency channels make my RTX signal go crazy and lost with resetting the whole unit. Really weird.

Update 02/02/2019 - Testing out the RTX both items, it seems that the handhold unit died early on the field, like after 3 hrs. Test started around 7:00 PM and will see when it starts to fade.

Update 02/03/2019 - Indeed the battery LIPO died after 3 hrs, on the handhold. So I did open up the unit and connected a 9V regular battery connector, so I can hook up a regular 9V battery in case the LIPO dies again. Problem solved !!

Update 03/25/2019 - My RTX handhold unit got shredded at the recovery site on my Level 3cert. Missile Works will replace it.

Update 05/28/2019 - Replacement RTX came in today, Will test it and put it together in the weekend. Will also make a holder or something so I can hang it around my neck next time !!!

Update 06/15/2019 - Finally the rest of the parts came in today.New RTX came in to replace the broken one, took a long time before Jim Amos send it back or even took a look at it. But it's all working great and happy to have it back to flyhigh altitudes again.
