Description

This time I will fly TOMACH II. Rocket was repaired some time ago, came down ballistic and was badly damaged, was found after two months by Carlos. Took a while to repair to find all the pieces for the Airframe and AvBay. AvBay has screw switches now, No phone will be in the bay this time. There is no window for video, but I just might snug an phone in there just for the data, Hope the weather is not to hot so the phone will keep working.

Update 09/22/2023 - Got the Rocket from the rack and measured it and also weighted it for accurate flight information. Will use a J355-17 motor to get it to approx. 4.000 feet.

Update 09/23/2023 - Checked the stratologgers, all good, batteries over 9 volts.

Update 09/24/2023 - Installed the motor, grease and double 0-rings. Made the Z-ties, loaded the main chute in front bay, sheer pins installed. Charge in booster installed, bog-barf. Streamer inside booster, had to redo the quick-link. So no phone and the RTX will be in the front bay also.

Update 10/15/2023 - The weather looks good for the Saturday Launch, a little windy. Will have to swing by Jason for the Transition AvBay section, and Tim for the 24" - 4" diameter fiberglass airframe. Hope Bernie has also news for my 75 mm Casing closures all for the Project-X launch for next year Airfest !

Update 10/20/2023 - Car all packed and loaded up, winds are a bit less and it seems that Jason will launch also. I need to pick up parts from Jason and Tim, for the Project X rocket, and maybe Bernie has my stuff also. I also have the state farm gizmo on the shock cord and see if it works and locate the GPS coordinates.

Update 10/21/2023 - LAUNCH DAY - Nice drive, clear sunny morning. Not much people at the launch site. Setting up tent and chairs. Prepping was a breeze. No phone and such. RTX in the front bay, got signal very quick. Camera in the booster, but forgot to switch it on, dam. Tim gave me some fiber glass tubes and Jason gave me the 3D printed coupler for Project X. Went to the LCO for assign the launch pad, they were using that dam board again. hate that board. Launch pad 3Dwas on. Quick setup, Florence took a lot of pictures again, that was always nice. Stratologgers turned on, ignitor in. and off to watch the launch. Jason took a great video of the launch, Thanks Jason. Rocket went straight up, but took a small curve due to those 10 mph + winds, but landed on the field in the tall grass. It looks like the first booster charge did not go off. But all went well anyway. It was a struggle to recover the rocket in the tall grass, the grass was strangling my legs at every step I made. So it took a while to get there.

I flew it, but still have to do some fine tuning on the nose cone.
