I made the above illustration for Freddy demonstrating how to attach a shock cord right to a swivel without the use of a quicklink. It does require that your shock cord have sewn loops at the ends. In this configuration, it is still easy to remove the shock cord by simply pulling the rope back through the loop in reverse direction.
This reduces the number of failure points and weight at the same time.
