For fast rockets, I use 2000 degree exhaust manifold paint after getting things smooth with primer coat(s). I then paint over it with a few coats of rustoleum or dupli-color (regular, not engine).

However, I've heard great things about using the paint in your above picture for final coats as it is easy to give a glass-like finish with 2000 grit sanding and polish.

Just picked this up from Advanced Auto. Going to try the chrome on the fins.

One more thing, if you apply clear gloss on the chrome it will come out dull, not so chromy any more, just do the test, I like to polish and wax, much better results..  Well, everybody has his opinion about using clear gloss, but I never had great results..

I'm not a fan of clear coat either Freddy so probably will just polish (maybe if I feel like it - haha). I did a test strip today with the chrome and it came out ok. Really just want to see some reflection in case I lose sight - so only the fins.

Tim I like the polish and waxing part, when you rocket gets dirty or even scratched up, the polish takes it off and the waxing makes it all nice and shiny again !!! Actually before every launch I wax my rocket !! (= me ..super nerdy)
